History of the Green Union of Palmeria

The Green Union of Palmeria (once called The Holy Kingdom of The Palms) started off as a small idea developed by Denis Jaimes which grew as the days passed with research, debates, work, etc. On the 7th of July 2007, the nation was officially established. The flag was designed, along with the coat of arms. Denis Jaimes declared himself as a king of the nation and created a council called the Septorexan union to invite six additional kings and/or queens to rule the nation and make the project grow. Lots of initial research about micronations, territories, laws, etc. was carried out since the establishment, the most significant one which was done on the 31st of July 2007, which led Denis Jaimes to believe for a short time that his project was hopeless. However, on the next day, the project rose up strongly from the ashes and continued as never before, no matter how hard it might be to achieve claiming a territory as part of Palmerian soil. Later on the 17th of August 2007, the Septorexan union was completed, which was a success for a short period of time until it was disbanded for matters of seriousness. On the 7th of September 2007, Palmeria survived the two month period, making it one of the strongest and most successful micronations of the year. Because of Denis Jaimes' passion for animals and his belief in animal rights (which is part of the Palmerian spirit), some newly born kittens that were found in a bush were declared as a national symbol, similar to Egyptian cultures (with more of a cultural significance rather than a religious one). Unfortunately, on the 23rd of October 2007, one of the kittens (who is called Phobos nowdays) fell due to an accident after a violent storm. The rest of them spent more than four months with Denis, after being given away due to heartbreaking decisions made by the landlord, which Denis Jaimes considered to be unjust and since them inspired him to keep working hard on his projects to eventually become independent from any sorts of authorities and live a free life. During the months of deep research, Denis Jaimes has had some beliefs regarding the 21st of December 2012. He did not believe the world would end on that day. Instead, he believed it could be the day when he and the members of his nation gain complete independence, which he estimated to be highly probable, unless he quit on his project. Since then, each 21st of December was considered one year less towards the day. On the 28th of January 2008, Denis Jaimes suspended all his ideas surrounding military force for the nation and stated that Palmerians would never use a single weapon during struggles for independence or protests against the governments, if there happens to be any trouble at a military level, which is unlikely, depending on how the secession movement is dealt with the governments. A radical change in the political system occured on the 22nd of June 2008 by which all governments were dropped from service, including Denis Jaimes himself, declaring Palmeria an anarchist nation, which is also the origin of its modern name. Denis Jaimes stated that the only two independent authorities bringing order to the lands would be the Palmerian Palatini Council (PPC), which is a council of individuals holding a title known as the Palatinus which is a rank in the former monarchy but still gives the individual a priority in social decision making. An individual holding a Palatinus title would have the reputation of a protector of the environment, a protector of animal rights and a Palmerian ethics teacher. The second independent authority, of course, would be known as Palmerian National Police (PNP), which would bring security to the nation, thus keeping Palmeria libertarian.
